"Find things beautiful as much as you can, most people find too little beautiful" --Vincent Van Gogh
I went the Van Gogh museum yesterday! I saw the entire Van Gogh exhibit, but will have to go back to look at the Alfred Stevens exhibit. Here are links to the two paintings I liked the most (because no photography is allowed in the museum):
View of Arles with Irises, 1888
The Sea at Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer 1888
These paintings look a million times better in real life. I really like being able to see the texture of the paint and how thickly it was applied. In the skies of a lot of his landscapes, Van Gogh's brushstrokes are crazy and swirly, even if they look one color from far away. I think it's cool how some of his paintings actually look realistic from far away but look a lot different up close.
